Italian national team player scores
Gianluigi Donnarumma – 8
There’s no denying that Donnarumma was Italy’s best player in the game. The PSG goalkeeper made a number of impressive saves, most notably a fingertip save from Fabian Ruiz, only for Calafiori to put the ball into his own net.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 3
It was a nightmare for Di Lorenzo, who was under fire from Nico Williams throughout the game. It was partly responsible for the goal conceded by failing to make a late run to close down. Athletic Bilbao’s forward cross.
Riccardo Calafiori – 6
is one person to sympathize with because he continued to show excellent form from the win against Albania, tackling the ball with fierceness and precision. Unfortunately, Donnarumma’s shot bounced off him and into the goal.
Alessandro Bastoni – 6
Bastoni is probably the best of the back four. The Inter Milan defender is a consistent winner in aerial duels and has a 91% pass accuracy rate.
Federico Dimarco – 4
Didn’t add to the attacking game as much as he was used to. Mostly having to mark Yamal, whose defense is not his strong point.
Jorginho – 2
Slow and lost the ball several times. Part of this was because they encountered a pressing game from Spain. It was no surprise that they were substituted at half time.
Nicolo Barella – 5
gave it his all but created very few chances. Because he was so pressed by Spain that he couldn’t raise his head. Until you can hardly find any free space to play. Which is probably understandable in this situation.
Davide Frattesi – 4
Not unlike Jorginho, he was also not able to cope when pressed and committed fouls, leading to his substitution at half-time.
Lorenzo Pellegrini – 5
Tried hard to win the ball back under siege but was slightly embarrassed when Yamal intercepted him. But did little to threaten the attacking threat throughout the game.
Federico Chiesa – 2
Unlike the previous game which went so far, this time against Cucurella they were completely closed to the point of being unable to play in the first half. The second half moved to play on the left wing. But it’s not any better than before. until having to be substituted
Gianluca Scamacca – 4
There’s not much to complain about as Scamacca was too isolated in a game where Italy only found four shots and only one was on target.
Substitute
Brian Cristante (on for Jorginho 46′) – 6
Was booked shortly after coming on as a substitute but helped Italy’s midfield improve from the first half.
Andrea Cambiaso (on for Frattesi 46′) – 5
Lost the ball in a dangerous area with his first touch but made up for it with a header on the line.
Mattia Zaccagni (replaced Chiesa 64′) – 6
Came on the left wing in place of Chiesa and looks more fearsome. With this form, he may start in the next match.
Mateo Retegui (replacing Scamacca, 64′) – 5,
more flashy and better at finding holes than Scamacca, is another person who might start against Croatia.
Giacomo Raspadori (replaced Pellegrini 82′) – N/A
